» APPEARANCE: Belle is from a wealthy family, her father being a sir. She is seen in quality cloths and well made dresses. Her name also means beautiful in French. She is fair with dark hair. Belle is short and has curves. She has a fierceness to her though, a stubbornness and a bravery to match it.
» PERSONALITY:
Belle is headstrong. She comes from a time where women aren't allowed to make their own destiny, but when opportunity comes knocking, she takes it. Belle defies her fiance and father when Rumpelstiltskin arrives to aid her father. He says he'll only help if she comes to serve him. This is her chance to show the bravery that only men do in stories like this. She chose to save her town.

Later she tells Rumpel that only she makes her destiny, and it is something that she truly believes in. She wanted to be the hero, and so she was. She could have left Rumpel, but she learned that he could be so much more with the curse broken. She decides to take matters into her own hands, being both stubborn and resourceful. He didn't have to be the beast he made himself out to be, and so with true love's kiss, she tried to bring him back.

Rumpel is perhaps the person that shaped her life the most. He took her, and she fell for her captor. It was because of him she was able to live her life the way she wanted to. She also saw him for what and who he was, despite all that he is capable of. When she leaves him, she knows she can do whatever she likes, seeing the world top on her list.

Belle is a proponent of love. Even despite what eventually befalls her with Rumpel, she is kind and never waiving. Dreamy, the dwarf, doesn't understand love, and she's the one who explains it to him, and that the girl of Dreamy's dreams wants to be with him. She thinks it is all worth it, even if Rumpel is too scared to admit it.

In that way, Belle is the bravery that he is not. Previous to this, we learned that when Rumpel was human, before he became the Dark One, he was a coward. He ran from the ogre wars. Belle had done the exact opposite. She wanted to be brave, and she took her opportunity. With a gentle heart, she fell for the man they all called a beast, and she called him out on his cowardice. He didn't believe that she could love him. He told her he valued his magic over her, but she would never believe that.

Even when Hook kidnaps her and threatens to kill her unless she lets him use her to kill him, Belle refuses. For all that happened, she will not sway from his loyalty to him. She is steadfast. From first turning away from her father and fiance's wishes to being certain of the choices she makes, it's more than a little tough to dissuade her. Not even certain death will.

Belle also becomes more worldly. She wanted to see the world, she told Rumpel once. And after he lets her go, she decides to do just that. It turns out she's a pretty good tracker as well (as the ordeal with Mulan and Prince Phillip show). It doesn't take her long find what she wants, a lot of that dependent on her willingness to learn, to read, to look outside of the box. When everyone tells her the monster is in the lake, she knows it isn't. She also reads which is a big deal. She wants to know and see and experience.

Ultimately, she's her own hero. Even after her heart is broken,she does move on from it. She has her own strength. No one can tell her what to do or change her beliefs. People can lie to themselves, but not her. She knows what she's capable of, and she'll go to any lengths to see it done. She'll stand by what she believes. In the end, it's all up to her, and she can do it.

» BACKGROUND: Belle
comes from a fairytale world as the daughter of a knight who has come to Rumpelstiltskin for help. He will only save the kingdom if she becomes his servant. She does to save her people. She returns to him, and after months of being together, more than a friendship grows.

He decides to let her go to town, knowing she'll never return. However along the wa, she comes across the evil queen who tells her to break the curse on him, she must kiss him. Instead of fleeing, Belle returns and the Evil Queen was right. Before the effects can change him, he pulls away and rejects her. Ultimately he casts her out, too afraid that she does love him and too power hungry to let himself go.

She then decides to travel the world. She ends up meeting a bunch of dwarves and tells Dreamy all about true love.
