( CHARACTER INFORMATION )
- ★ NAME: Belle
- ★ AGE: Looks midtwenties, but due to a curse she's probably somewhere just shy of 60, assuming she was actually in her midtwenties when the curse was enacted.
- ★ CANON POINT: 3.11 Going Home
- ★ CANON INFORMATION: Belle has two different pages since the show is split up between flashbacks in the Enchanted Forest and what happens as the show runs in Storybrook

- ★ PERSONALITY:
Belle is headstrong. She comes from a time where women aren't allowed to make their own destiny, but when opportunity comes knocking, she takes it. Belle defies her fiance and father when Rumpelstiltskin arrives to aid her father. He says he'll only help if she comes to serve him. This is her chance to show the bravery that only men do in stories like this. She chose to save her town.

Later she tells Rumple that only she makes her destiny, and it is something that she truly believes in. She wanted to be the hero, and so she was. She could have left Rumple, but she learned that he could be so much more with the curse broken. She decides to take matters into her own hands, being both stubborn and resourceful. He didn't have to be the beast he made himself out to be, and so with true love's kiss, she tried to bring him back.

Rumple is perhaps the person that shaped her life the most. He took her, and she fell for her captor. It was because of him she was able to live her life the way she wanted to. She also saw him for what and who he was, despite all that he is capable of. When she leaves him, she knows she can do whatever she likes, seeing the world top on her list.

Belle is a proponent of love. Even despite what eventually befalls her with Rumple, she is kind and never waiving. Dreamy, the dwarf, doesn't understand love, and she's the one who explains it to him, and that the girl of Dreamy's dreams wants to be with him. She thinks it is all worth it, even if Rumple is too scared to admit it.

In that way, Belle is the bravery that he is not. Previous to this, we learned that when Rumple was human, before he became the Dark One, he was a coward. He ran from the ogre wars. Belle had done the exact opposite. She wanted to be brave, and she took her opportunity. With a gentle heart, she fell for the man they all called a beast, and she called him out on his cowardice. He didn't believe that she could love him. He told her he valued his magic over her, but she would never believe that.

Even when Hook kidnaps her and threatens to kill her unless she lets him use her to kill Rumple, Belle refuses. For all that happened, she will not sway from his loyalty to him. She is steadfast. From first turning away from her father and fiance's wishes to being certain of the choices she makes, it's more than a little tough to dissuade her. Not even certain death will.

Belle also becomes more worldly. She wanted to see the world, she told Rumple once. And after he lets her go, she decides to do just that. It turns out she's a pretty good tracker as well (as the ordeal with Mulan and Prince Phillip show). It doesn't take her long to find what she wants, a lot of that dependent on her willingness to learn, to read, to look outside of the box. When everyone tells her the monster is in the lake, she knows it isn't. She also reads which is a big deal. She wants to know, see and experience.

Ultimately, she's her own hero. Even after her heart is broken, she does move on from it. She has her own strength. No one can tell her what to do or change her beliefs. People can lie to themselves, but not her. She knows what she's capable of, and she'll go to any lengths to see it done. She'll stand by what she believes. In the end, it's all up to her, and she can do it.

In Storybrooke she still has the same quality of independence. True love doesn't really make life easy once she found Rumple again. Her father tried to keep her from him, almost pushing her past the boundary to forget everything she knows including Rumpelstiltskin. Once she learns of this and the fact that Rumple was keeping his magic usage from her, she takes a step back to decide what is best for her. Ultimately we end up seeing her back with Rumple, but in Belle centric episodes she is still herself even if they are together.

Outside of the episode with her father, Belle really doesn't have too many relationships other than with Rumple. Her story is tied with Mulan and Grumpy, and she was kidnapped by Regina using Hook, but the person she is closest to is Rumple himself, to the point that even Pan's shadow uses her likeness to try and trick Rumple in Neverland. She does end up getting a job and often helps when she can, easily being one of the cleverest characters on the show, but the show itself doesn't explore her relationships with anyone else. (The actress was only set to do one episode in the first season, but Belle quickly became a fan favorite so the writers wrote her in when they could, bringing her back more as a regular.)

- ★ COURT ALLIANCE: Seelie. Not only is Belle a straight up Neutral Good character, but she's a Disney princess who is all about love triumphing all, the good in others, and doing what is right.
- ★ ABILITIES: Belle has no known magical or supernatural abilities up to this canon point.
- ★ INVENTORY: Just the clothes she had on after Rumple, the Charmings, and Regina came back from Neverland.

- ★ NETWORK SAMPLE:
[It's not the strangest thing that's happened to her, but Belle has a natural quizzical look on her face. In front of her is a large book. Guess who got started early.]

You could say I know a bit on fairy tales and I can remember court well enough from the Enchanted Forest, but I can't say I know much of this place. [Which is strange in and of itself, but she knows what magic can do. It his Storybrooke for nearly thirty years.]

I'm looking to remedy that. I was a librarian back home in Storybrooke, and I need to get back there. [She's sure everyone is probably saying the same thing. But she just lost Rumple, and she's not even sure if there is a Storybrooke. Well technically there isn't, but it's too long of a story, and it will sidetrack her. And right now, all she wants is to find her way back.]

I found some history about battles. This is all supposed to come down to Seelie and Unseelie as I understand it. They've been fighting for hundred of years, so I guess that explains what everyone is doing in court. [She thinks she's getting this right.]

What I haven't found is some way to make peace. Even to just get us home. There was something about a Mother though... To make the lands better. Somehow I'm thinking that's not the same thing.

[She squints and looks back at the massive book. Fighting. That's what this will come down to. She'd like to think of herself as 'the better person' type. Magic was never entirely something she liked. That brings something else up...]

Plus I'd like to know what I'm dealing with. Are we talking Dark magic or just your standard good versus evil mix here? [She raises her eyebrows. She did say she knows about fairy tales.] If anyone has found out anything else, I'd like to know.

Thanks. Oh, and I'm Belle.

- ★ LOG SAMPLE:

Ever the curious one, Belle couldn't help but be interested in the fairies. Of course they had them in the Enchanted Forest; she knew a certain dwarf who fell in love with a fairy. But it does have her wondering about their magic. This place is like the Enchanted Forest, at least with the different races and no technology working. It took Belle forever to understand the microwave in Storybrooke.

She approached the fairy-ring cautiously, wondering if there was any trigger to it. She wanted to inspect it herself. She didn't know any magic or spells. Belle wasn't like Emma, Regina, or Rumple, but if she could learn more about it then maybe those with magical abilities could do something.

Eying up those who passed, she wondered if there was also any reason to who the fairies brought over. Belle had probably been taken easily just since the idea of fairies wasn't a new one to her. But now she was here, she just wanted to learn as much as she could, do something. She liked the Seelie court well enough, though she didn't quite feel beholden to them.

If anything she felt more of a connection to those also taken. She had been held prisoner before under Rumple when he was still the Dark One. This wasn't quite the same case, but it definitely meant that the Seelie court would have to undeniably prove that they needed her, that this wasn't just a means to an end, that the countless deaths that have been slain under this war actually mean something for the good of all. Otherwise she couldn't really align herself completely with their cause.

Which was why she wanted to see the fairies again. Even if she didn't get anything out of them, no one could fault her for trying.
